Spaciotempo’s temporary building helps Vinci to get on track in Nottingham
Engineers
building a multi-million pound extension to Nottingham’s tram
system now have somewhere to store construction equipment and
materials after investing in one of our temporary buildings.
Vinci
Construction has purchased a 600sqm single-skin Neivalu temporary
building in order to house lengths of track and the metalwork used to
hold the overhead cables - as well as provide office space – while
the company builds the 17.5km line, which is set to be completed
towards the end of next year.
The
temporary building measures 90m from gable to gable and although the
original plan was to erect in a flat, level site, a change of plan
saw it located on a site that rose very slightly at one end.
Such
an elevation, although minimal, would require extensive groundwork to
accommodate a similar sized permanent structure, but it caused no
significant problems for us when erecting the temporary structure and
Vinci was able to move into its new facility in under two weeks.
Scott
Jameson, director of sales at Spaciotempo, said: “By purchasing the
building, Vinci will enjoy the flexibility of having a purpose-built
facility that can be moved around the site to meet future needs, or
can be dismantled and erected elsewhere.
“The
Neivalu is a quality building that is more than capable of meeting
Vinci’s needs in Nottingham over the next few years and for many
years afterwards.”

Spaciotempo looks to invest £2m in more stock to meet a growing demand for temporary buildings
This year we will invest a further £2m in new stock to keep up with unprecedented demand.
We have already quadrupled our intended investment in new hire stock last year - from £500,000 to £2m – and plan to make the same investment again in anticipation of further demand, notably from the automotive sector, as well as from the manufacturing and retail industries.
We enjoyed a record 2012, thanks to the high number of enquiries from firms who wanted to expand their premises but did not want to take on the financial burden of a new permanent building at a time of continuing economic uncertainty. Olympic retractable tunnel helps Stafford boat owners repair their craft
A retractable tunnel used to welcome athletes competing at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games is now in Stafford being used as a shelter for canal boat owners repairing their craft.
Stafford Boat Club is situated on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal in Wildwood and has 180 members. Formed in 1964, it has steadily built up a wide range of facilities, including a club house built entirely by its members, but did not have anywhere that was dry and warm where they could work on their boats during the winter – until now.
John Mountfort, commodore of Stafford Boat Club, said: “Every so often members need to take their boats out of the water to paint the hulls or mend the propellers, but we didn’t have anywhere under cover where they could do their work.
“Then one of our members suggested using a retractable tunnel as a temporary shelter, which he had seen elsewhere. We decided that would be perfect, because it could be pulled over the boats while they were being worked on and taken away afterwards.
The tunnel is made from PVC stretched over an aluminium frame and runs on rubber tyres. When it is not in use, it compresses to a depth of just 1m, which makes it easy to store away.
As part of a full refurbishment carried out before it was pressed into action at the boat club, the tunnel was widened by another metre to accommodate the width of the boats, with enough room for the owners to work alongside.
Scott Jameson, director of sales for Spaciotempo, said: “As part of the agreement to supply the tunnels to the Olympic Games, we agreed a buy back scheme which enabled them to meet LOCOG’s sustainability targets.
“We are really pleased that this retractable tunnel is now providing much-needed shelter for Stafford Boat Club.
“There is no doubt that the whole country benefited from a feel good factor during the Olympic and Paralympic Games and we hope that this tunnel will, in its own way, act as a souvenir of an unforgettable summer.”

Flexible Spaciotempo Building Earns Contract Extension at Fujitsu
Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe has extended the hire of a Spaciotempo temporary building after it proved to excel in more than just the intended application.
The company originally specified the 10 x 20 x 5.2 metre, aluminium framed building on a three month rental contract at its headquarters in the West Midlands, which acts as the centre for all aspects of the European business operation. The structure was chosen to provide a secure storage and workshop facility for the refurbishment of one of its customer’s high-specification telecommunications HGVs – which effectively serves as an emergency mobile telephone exchange.

New Tunnel Provides Revenue and Protection at Notts County FC
Coinciding with its 100th anniversary of playing at Meadow Lane, Notts County Football Club has purchased a new players’ tunnel from leading supplier Spaciotempo.
Sponsored by renowned Nottingham-based bar and restaurant group, Hooters, the bespoke tunnel clearly stands out with their trademark orange colour and distinctive logo. Situated level with the half way line and adjoining the Derek Pavis Stand it helps create a major focal point for supporters as the players enter the playing arena.
Standing 2.28m tall, 1.80m wide and 4.0m in length, the tunnel retracts back to the stadium wall to create extra space when not in use. It is manufactured from tough, flame retardant PVC on an aluminium frame and runs out smoothly on rubber tyres.
Charlotte Moore, Head of Commercial at Notts County Football Club said: “We and the sponsors are delighted with the cost, quality and visual impact of the finished product. As it provides strong branding opportunities it creates a valuable new revenue stream for the club while a further crucial feature is the protection afforded to players and officials as they are waiting to walk out on to the pitch.”
The Spaciotempo retractable tunnel concept is proving to be exceptionally popular with football clubs across all tiers of English football - from Stoke City in the Premier League, Middlesbrough and Preston North End in the Championship and Chesterfield in League One. A whole host of other clubs have either ordered new tunnels or new covers for existing tunnels as sponsors change or damage is repaired. Available in a variety of sizes, the tunnels are used for a range of applications including covered walkways to the hospitality facilities, on-site storage facilities and even to protect fans from inclement weather at the ticket offices.

Spaciotempo Provides Car Showroom for Peugeot
Customers visiting one of the UK’s leading
dealerships have complemented staff on its
interim car showroom.
Staff at Peugeot dealers Robins & Day say that
a stream of visitors have remarked on the
quality and appearance of the temporary
building, which was installed at the
dealership’s flagship site in Coventry.
Robins & Day, which operates 36 sites across
the country and has a turnover of £500m, has
taken up residence in the building while its
new multi-million pound dealership takes
shape at the city’s iconic Kenpas Highway site.
It is one of a number of Robins & Day sites
currently using our buildings, which have
also been installed during renovation work
at its dealerships in Stockport and Preston.
Each one is supplied from our off-the-shelf
TempAstor range and offers either 150 sq
m or 200 sq m of floorspace - roughly the
All of them are 4.2m high at the eaves,
giving the showrooms a light, airy feel, and
have been provided with doors and large
windows, office partitioning, full electrical
and heating packages and temporary
toilets and canteen areas.
They also carry extensive corporate
branding and have thermo roofs, which are
made from translucent fabric and allow in a
large amount of natural daylight, which
reduces running costs and energy
consumption.
The Coventry site also has another 100 sqm
TempAstor building, which it is using as a garage show room.

Bradford College Boxing Gym
Boasting three boxing rings, a full range of
hitting equipment, mirrors and weights the
hall has proved popular with young boxers.
The Academy has become one of a handful
designated High Performance Boxing
Centres across the UK It will also act as a
pre-Games training base for a number of
Olympic boxing teams.
It is, in short, a significant addition to
Yorkshire’s sporting scene and a proud
example of the London 2012 legacy, yet it
quite easily might never have ever got off
the ground.
Just a year ago, the Academy was dividing
its time between four venues operated by
other organisations. It had a long waiting
list, limited funding and, with the Olympics
fast approaching, little chance to take part.
Constructed using an anodised aluminium
panels, the hall was manufactured and
supplied by us and, although it could
theoretically be removed as easily as it has
been erected, it is designed to last for many
years. It is manufactured to comply with
British and EEC safety standards for
structural integrity, fire and safety codes, as
well as British Standards for wind and snow
loading.
We laid the concrete base, installed a
semi-translucent roof, which allows in
daylight to save lighting costs, and fitted a
host of other amenities, including a
temperature control system. The whole cost
of the project was £300,000 which,
according to figures from Sport England,
shows a significant saving. The average cost
of a similar-sized sports hall, based on
typical schemes funded last year, would be
around the £1m mark – more than three
times as expensive.

Spaciotempo UK's know-how conquers an uphill task at Chesterfield
We have just finished one the most complicated jobs the company has ever attempted; building a temporary market hall on behalf of Chesterfield Town Council, which wanted somewhere to house 14 traders while the town's existing hall undergoes a £3.6m facelift.
The hall has been built on an open space called New Square but, thanks to the Square's cobbled surface, historic plane trees and sloping surface, the installation process was far from straightforward.
