Spaciotempo Provides Car Showroom for Peugeot

Customers visiting one of the UK’s leading
dealerships have complemented staff on its
interim car showroom.

Staff at Peugeot dealers Robins & Day say that
a stream of visitors have remarked on the
quality and appearance of the temporary
building, which was installed at the
dealership’s flagship site in Coventry.
Robins & Day, which operates 36 sites across
the country and has a turnover of £500m, has
taken up residence in the building while its
new multi-million pound dealership takes
shape at the city’s iconic Kenpas Highway site.


It is one of a number of Robins & Day sites
currently using our buildings, which have
also been installed during renovation work
at its dealerships in Stockport and Preston.
Each one is supplied from our off-the-shelf
TempAstor range and offers either 150 sq
m or 200 sq m of floorspace - roughly the
size of a tennis court.
All of them are 4.2m high at the eaves,
giving the showrooms a light, airy feel, and
have been provided with doors and large
windows, office partitioning, full electrical
and heating packages and temporary
toilets and canteen areas.
They also carry extensive corporate
branding and have thermo roofs, which are
made from translucent fabric and allow in a
large amount of natural daylight, which
reduces running costs and energy
consumption.

The Coventry site also has another 100 sqm
TempAstor building, which it is using as a garage show room.

It's safety first as Crewe Alexandra FC extends its players' tunnel

Football League One side Crewe Alexandra FC has underlined its commitment to ensuring match-days stay safe by increasing the length of the players' tunnel.

The club has added a four metre retractable extension to an existing tunnel at the Alexandra Stadium, creating a covered walkway for players and officials stretching from the stand to the pitch-side.

The extension has been provided by us, and we also supplied the original tunnel some years ago.

Boasting three boxing rings, a full range of
hitting equipment, mirrors and weights the
hall has proved popular with young boxers.
The Academy has become one of a handful
designated High Performance Boxing
Centres across the UK It will also act as a
pre-Games training base for a number of
Olympic boxing teams.

It is, in short, a significant addition to
Yorkshire’s sporting scene and a proud
example of the London 2012 legacy, yet it
quite easily might never have ever got off
the ground.

Just a year ago, the Academy was dividing
its time between four venues operated by
other organisations. It had a long waiting
list, limited funding and, with the Olympics
fast approaching, little chance to take part.

Constructed using an anodised aluminium
frame in-filled with steel-clad sandwich
panels, the hall was manufactured and
supplied by us and, although it could
theoretically be removed as easily as it has
been erected, it is designed to last for many
years. It is manufactured to comply with
British and EEC safety standards for
structural integrity, fire and safety codes, as
well as British Standards for wind and snow
loading.

We laid the concrete base, installed a
semi-translucent roof, which allows in
daylight to save lighting costs, and fitted a
host of other amenities, including a
temperature control system. The whole cost
of the project was £300,000 which,
according to figures from Sport England,
shows a significant saving. The average cost
of a similar-sized sports hall, based on
typical schemes funded last year, would be
around the £1m mark – more than three
times as expensive.

Spaciotempo UK's know-how conquers an uphill task at Chesterfield

We have just finished one the most complicated jobs the company has ever attempted; building a temporary market hall on behalf of Chesterfield Town Council, which wanted somewhere to house 14 traders while the town's existing hall undergoes a £3.6m facelift. 

The hall has been built on an open space called New Square but, thanks to the Square's cobbled surface, historic plane trees and sloping surface, the installation process was far from straightforward.

Berthon Boat Company Opts for Spaciotempo Tunnel

Family business, Berthon Boats, based in the Georgian town of Lymington, has been trading since 1877 and occupies a prime riverside site offering easy access to the Solent.

As well as their marina, which has 280 deep water berths, the company offers a brokerage service for yacht buyers as well as an extensive servicing and refit operation.

The company boasts a large, fully equipped workshop facility as well as a separate paint shop to carry out refurbishment and renovations – from simple deck replacements to installing a full electronic suite, complete rebuilds and a wide range of restoration services. 

The company has recently sourced a Ready Box retractable tunnel from Spaciotempo which they are using to cover the boats that are being restored, protecting them from dust particles in the air.

The tunnel is 3.5 m in width, 10m in length and 3.55 m in overall height and using a concertina system it can be retracted back to approximately 128 cm, which frees up additional space in the workshop. It is also highly portable and can be relocated to whichever part of the workshop, marina or yard it is required. As well as supplying protection for the boats the tunnel can double up as a handy storage space for goods that need to be protected.

Stockport's sports fans carry on having fun thanks to Spaciotempo's temporary hall

Young athletes whose sports hall has been bulldozed to make way for new homes are still able to enjoy their favourite activities after Spaciotempo UK supplied an interim sports facility until a permanent replacement is built.

Earlier this year the popular Dialstone Centre in Stockport, Cheshire, was closed to make way for a new residential development, with a new sports centre set to be built as part of a new community hub complex planned for a neighbouring site and due to be opened in 2014.

The time lapse between one centre closing and its replacement being built meant that the Dialstone Centre's owners, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, had to find an alternative to ensure that users did not have to travel elsewhere or had to give up their favourite activities.

The answer lay with a 700sqm semi-permanent sports hall, which Spaciotempo erected just half a kilometre away on the premises of Offerton High School, which closed down this summer. 

Sited next to an adjoining building offering changing facilities and a gym, the hall is large enough to house four badminton courts but is used for a range of activities including five-a-side football, gymnastics, Zumba and children's holiday camps.

Constructed using an anodised aluminium frame in-filled with steel-clad sandwich panels, it is 8.6m tall at the ridge, has a semi-translucent thermo-inflated roof, heating and an adjoining 100sqm storage area. 

The Dialstone Centre is run by Life Leisure, which is the trading name of Stockport Sports Trust, a not-for-profit organisation which operates sports facilities on behalf of the council.

Michelle Child, manager of the Dialstone Centre, said that the hall is now well-used by local residents from toddlers all the way up to people in their 80s.

She said: "With the closure of the previous centre, we needed a sports hall that was temporary and not too expensive and that is exactly what we've got.

"It is very similar to the dimensions of the last sports hall and we have seen a lot of customers from the previous centre come along and continue their sport instead of having to go elsewhere."

Scott Jameson, director of sales at Spaciotempo, said: "The Olympics have given sport in this country a huge shot in the arm and we are very pleased that our building means that the community in Offerton isn't missing out on taking part.

"This is a great example of how temporary buildings not only provide an affordable stop-gap, but offer a sturdy and good-sized accommodation that will more than meet their needs while their new premises are taking shape."

Spaciotempo's temporary warehouse is a hit with storage experts Cam Store

A storage company that looks after millions of pounds worth of stock on behalf of other businesses has expanded its operation by investing in a 525sqm Temporary warehouse. Cam Store took delivery of a top-of-the-range facility from temporary building manufacturers, suppliers and installers Spaciotempo UK, during the summer in order to accommodate a new storage contract.

The company employs 20 people at its base in Royston, Hertfordshire, where it has around 10,700sqm of secure storage space on a four-and-a-half acre site.

Offering commercial warehousing and personal and business self-storage, Cam Store's facility is routinely used by firms as off-site storage for thousands of items, including machinery, electrical items and other products.
Earlier this year, in order to win a new contract, it needed to provide warehouse space that was watertight and free from condensation, a stringent requirement which could have forced Cam Store to invest in a new purpose-built facility.
